About Yemi
"Juju is a party and a prayer at the same time."
Yemi Campary, born Opeyemi Samuel Bamiduro, is a native of Ikare Akoko in Ondo State, Nigeria, and grew up in the city of Akure, Ondo State.
He is a singer and the leader of the Optimum Melody Band, carrying the juju tradition of the Yoruba people into Europe. His sound mixes the talking drum (gángan), layered guitars and call-and-response vocals with modern Afrobeat grooves.
Now based in Italy, Yemi and the Optimum Melody Band play for weddings, birthdays, naming ceremonies, church events, cultural festivals and clubs, singing in Yoruba, English and Italian.
